Welcome! We realize there are many chiropractors and therapists out there that you may be considering, and we are honored that you are also considering us. For that reason, we would like to take a minute to tell you about ourselves.
Dr. Tim Lowney has been practicing in Boulder since 1989. Aside from traditional chiropractic care, Dr. Lowney also integrates physical therapy, massage therapy, IMS trigger point acupuncture (dry needling), traditional acupuncture, nutritional counseling, custom foot orthotics, and therapeutic exercises, into his treatment plans. When devising a treatment program, Dr. Lowney works with each patient to ensure that he or she will be comfortable with the treatment, in order to increase the likelihood that his work will be effective. Dr. Lowney believes that chiropractic care should not be long term. Acute problems usually respond quickly, and chronic problems respond to a brief period of care followed by a program of exercise and lifestyle changes. None of our patients receive a recommendation for a prolonged treatment program. X-rays are not usually necessary for Dr. Lowney to evaluate your condition. When X-rays do prove to be needed, only specific and necessary X-rays will be taken.
Dr. Lowney has been a runner, cyclist, triathlete, Nordic skier, and Alpine skier for many years, and has a first-hand understanding of what it takes to avoid, and recover from, the types of injuries we all experience at some point in our lives. He attended the University of California at Santa Cruz, and graduated from Life Chiropractic College-West, with honors, in 1988. He then taught at the Boulder School of Massage Therapy from 1989 to 1996, completed a one-year post-graduate certification in sports injuries in 1991, and received his acupuncture certification in 1998. He is also the father of three wonderful children and has been involved in coaching various youth sports for many years.
Ellyn Becker has been the office manager at the Boulder Sports Chiropractic Center for a little over two years. She has a BA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Colorado, where she assisted in field and lab research on both Piñon pines and bees, tutored freshman and student athletes, and generally fell in love with the natural sciences. She grew up in the Boulder area, attending Lyons schools from kindergarten through graduation. She is the smiling face on the other end of the phone when you call, and is the one to talk to when you have any questions or concerns.
